Tesla is recalling nearly 4,000 of its 2024 Cybertrucks

Tesla is recalling 3,878 2024 units Cyber trucks after discovering that the accelerator pedal can become stuck, potentially causing the vehicle to accelerate unintentionally and increasing the risk of an accident.

According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the accelerator pedal pad can become loose and become stuck in the interior trim.

The recall affects model year 2024 Cybertrucks made between November 13, 2023 and April 4, 2024, the NHTSA said.

As of Monday, Tesla was not aware of any collisions, injuries or deaths related to the problem, the NHTSA said. According to the NHTSA, Cybertrucks in production were equipped with a new accelerator pedal component on Wednesday this week.

Tesla, which is led by billionaire Elon Musk, said it will replace or repair the accelerator pedal for free. Owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla’s recall number is SB-24-33-003

Notification letters are expected to be sent to vehicle owners in June.

The automaker delivered the first dozen of its futuristic models Cybertruck customer collections in November, two years behind the original schedule, with uncertainty over when large-scale production might begin.

Musk addressed the issues associated with mass production of the vehicle, saying during the company’s third-quarter conference call in October that “we’ve dug our own grave with Cybertruck.”
